UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is on the ground ready to distribute emergency relief to victims of the South Asia Earthquake.

UNHCR is part of a joint UN team established to provide emergency relief to victims of the South Asia earthquake. The earthquake, measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale, has affected large areas in northern Pakistan, killing at least 18,000 people. Massive destruction has taken place in six northern districts of the North Western Frontier Province on the Pakistan/Afghanistan border where UNHCR was already providing protection and assistance to more than 100,000 Afghan refugees in camps.

How the funds are used:


UNHCR is ready to distribute our stockpile of relief items in our Peshawar warehouse, including 1400 winter tents for families, 21 hospital tents, 11,000 plastic sheets 11,000 kitchen sets, and other items like mattresses and soap.
