We pride ourselves in a policy of inclusiveness and currently cater for children who live with varying levels of blindness, hearing impairment, ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, Autism and Tourettes Syndrome. These members participate fully in the program with the support of the staff and their ensemble colleagues.
Safe Environment Case Study:
The Birralee Blokes' unique ensemble was originally formed to provide young men with an environment which was secure and supportive of their individual voice change insecurities. Young men, particularly during adolescence, require support in relation to their emerging sense of identify and belonging. Their participation fosters learning and is an effective way of building self-esteem, resilience and social skills. The evidence of this need within the Brisbane community is demonstrated by the levels of engagement and remarkable results achieved by this ensemble (ABC Classic FM Australian Choir of the Year). They now comprise a 45 voice ensemble who have become an inspiration not only to boys who sing but to all who work with young men and boys.
Charity Support
Participation at charity events often brings associated expenses to our organisation however such activities develop the personal integrity of our members and fosters generosity of spirit and an appreciation for the value of humanitarian cause within the wider community.
We continue to support all individuals to develop as young artists and of particular note, regarding boys who sing, continue to challenge the Australian gender stereotypical view of masculinity.
We kindly request your support - our annual appeal target of $20,000 will assist us to continue our work with young people.
How will the funds be used?
The funds will be used to support many of our music and education programs including regional, national and international tours, annual camps and workshops. And to enable our continued involvement in charity and civic events
