Affordable Housing for Disadvantaged Women

The Victorian Women's Housing Association (VWHA) is a social housing developer creating homes that will enable women and their children to live with dignity as contributing members of local communities.

VWHA was created in 1996 in response to the dire need to expand affordable rental housing options available to women.

VWHA develops quality housing specifically for women and their children who are in need of a safe, secure and long term home.

Staff and voluntary board members are comprised of a committed and diverse group of women, drawing on expertise in the areas of government, community organisations, the law, education, consultancy, architecture, creative design, housing development, marketing, finance and engineering.

VWHA is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and is a public benevolent institution which provides good quality long term affordable housing for women and their children.

Stated objectives are to provide and manage not-for-profit low cost rental housing for low-income women; to act as lessor of low rental or subsidised housing for low-income women; to refer low-income women facing homelessness to low rental or subsidised accommodation and to refer women living in the Company's housing to counselling and support services.
