Women's Health East (WHE) is a non-profit women's health organisation working in the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) of Melbourne and covering the municipalities of Boroondara, Maroondah, Manningham, Knox, Monash, Whitehorse and the Yarra Ranges. Our aim is to have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of all women who live, work or study in the EMR.
As a women-focused health promotion organisation Women's Health East works with stakeholders in the region to build capacity of services and programs to ensure they optimally address issues affecting women. In particular, we focus on ensuring that the planning and delivering of all programs specifically address the needs of those women who are most disadvantaged - whether it be women who are disadvantaged financially, same-sex attracted women, women with a disability or mental illness, women experiencing family violence, women from a variety of cultural backgrounds, Indigenous women or women who live in areas where it may be difficult to access services. Our aim is to ensure that ALL women receive access to the best possible services and programs.
WHE receives the majority of its funding from the Victorian State Government Department of Health. These funds are used across our 4 priority areas of:
In order for us to have a greater impact on the lives of all women across the seven Local Government Areas of the region, Women's Health East relies heavily on donations and funding from a variety of other sources in addition to our core funding. We work very hard to ensure that each and every dollar is used in the most effective and efficient way. To us, every dollar counts.
