Alarmingly, statistics show that one in three Australian women report having experienced physical or sexual violence since the age of fifteen. These women are our mothers, our daughters, our wives, our girlfriends, our colleagues and friends. The White Ribbon Campaign¹s aim is to stop this insidious violence.
The White Ribbon Campaign in Australia is led by thousands of male Ambassadors who, through living the White Ribbon Oath, act as positive role models in their communities. These men have taken up the challenge to help bring about attitudinal and behavioural change, individually and collectively. The role of White Ribbon Ambassadors is central to the success of the Campaign. It is a key ingredient in being able to model good behaviours and deliver powerful messages to targeted audiences.
Why are we collecting funds?
White Ribbon is a not-for-profit organisation and relies heavily on the generous donations from Australians to continue our work to prevent violence against women.
A recent survey of Ambassadors identified a need for Ambassadors to be better equipped in their volunteer work to effectively lead the White Ribbon Campaign.
White Ribbon seeks your support to further develop and support the work of our Ambassadors, to enable them to effectively drive change within their communities.
Key areas of Expenditure
Funds are being sought to:
- Run a series of workshops across metropolitan and rural areas providing opportunities for Ambassadors to acquire skills in public speaking and delivery of key White Ribbon messages, to drive change within their communities.
- Enhance the White Ribbon Ambassadors¹ Information Kit to further support their violence prevention activities.
