You can probably understand how hectic & stressful caring for a loved one with a disability can be.
Our carer support program tries to give as many carers as possible a break. The need for this kind of service increases every year. For only $48 we are able to provide a few hours of respite care.
We can make life easier for disabled Victorians and their families, by giving carers a break. Would you be so kind as to help us with a tax-deductible donation?

Why are we collecting funds?

Yooralla is one of Victoria's oldest and
largest not-for-profit, community based
welfare organisations. Founded in 1918, we
provide a wide range of services and facilities for children and adults with
disabilities.

We support people who have been born with a disability or who have acquired one
through illness, accident or ageing.

Our many services include: therapy, pre-schools, school based support, skills
training, advocacy, employment, recreation, equipment provision, technology support,
respite care and accommodation.

Disability in Our Global Village!

Did you know that if we were to shrink
the world's population to a village of
exactly 100 people, with all the existing
human ratios remaining the same, it would
look something like this?

There wouuld be:

a) 57 Asians

b) 21 Europeans

c) 14 from the Western hemisphere,
both
North & South

d) 52 would be female and 48 would
be
male

e) 8 would be Africans

f) 70 would be non-white

g) 30 would be white

h) 70 would be non-Christian

i) 30 would be Christian

j) 89 would be heterosexual

k) 11 would be homosexual

l) .....and 19 would have some
level of disability!

When one considers the incidence of
disability in this way, it's easy to see why
the Yoorallas of this world are so
important. However, comparatively speaking,
they appear to rate little in the minds of
most of the populations around the world.

And when you consider the
increase in the incidence of disability in
Australia due to our ageing population, it
becomes
clear that in the end we are all involved in
a numbers game.
