Youth Opportunities Association (SA) Incorporated
So many young people in our community are faced everyday with problems of abuse, neglect, depression, self doubt, anger or no sense of direction. Without anyone to turn to, they end up feeling alone and confused wondering what their future holds and whether they matter at all. Youth Opportunities exists to ensure that no matter what the circumstances that a young person has to deal with, they are given the chance to create a better future.
The Youth Opportunities 10 week Personal Leadership Program aims to help young people overcome challenges and succeed in life by teaching them knowledge and skills to make positive decisions and become their own leaders. The results of the training show young people are displaying increased levels of confidence, improved communication with relationship skills and a greater sense of direction resulting in improved grades and attendance at school.
By applying what they learn through the training, young people are not only positively changing their own lives , they are also helping to influence those around them, creating a flow on effect bringing about positive cultural change within their school and the community. Youth Opportunities currently works alongside approximately 25 schools and organisations in metropolitan and regional South Australia and the Personal Leadership Program is helping to change the lives of almost 1,000 young people each year. But, like a young person's journey to a better future, we cannot do it alone. As a charity the impact we have on young people is limited only by the support we receive from the community.
