*Content warning - mentions suicide* 1 in 10 of all suicides in Victoria is related to a diagnosis (or symptoms consistent with a diagnosis) of borderline personality disorder (BPD) — a treatable condition that is too often misunderstood.
With early diagnosis, the right therapy, and compassionate support, recovery is possible. Yet many people with BPD are denied care, face discrimination and prejudice, and are left to struggle alone.
We’re working to change that — by amplifying lived experience voices, advocating for evidence-based treatment, and pushing for systemic reform.

What is BPD?
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a common mental illness impacting between 2-5% of the population. People experience a pattern of behaviours and symptoms that can be recognised by trained, experienced health professionals. It is a condition of the brain and mind, is not their fault, and they did not cause it. It's important to know that it does not mean that a person has a 'broken personality'.
