Australian Museum Foundation 2017 Appeal

Please support the Australian Museum Foundation.

The Australian Museum Foundation exists to raise funds to support the Australian Museum (AM) across science, culture, and education. Contributions from the Foundation have allowed the AM to remain at the forefront of Australian scientific research, to deepen our cultural understanding, and to offer vital education programs for young people.

The Foundation relies on donations from generous individuals like you to fund important projects at the AM. I am appealing to you to help us carry out important projects this year.  Upcoming projects in 2017 include:

Southwest Pacific Expedition

This July, Australian Museum Research Institute scientists will travel to the remote islands and reefs surrounding Fiji, Tonga, New Caledonia and Vanuatu to enhance our understanding of the marine biodiversity in the area. This seven week expedition aims to record the biological diversity of the region, focussing on fishes and invertebrates.  Upon returning to the AM, the team will identify all samples, integrate them into the museum collection, and make them available to scientists around the world.

Pacific & Indigenous Youth Reconnection Program

This project is aimed at addressing the over-representation of young people from the Pacific Diaspora and Indigenous communities in the NSW Juvenile Justice system, through initiatives which connect 'at-risk' Pacific and Indigenous youth to the AM's Cultural Collections.  We want to facilitate the reconnection of marginalised young people with their cultural heritage through engaging in on-site visits to the AM, outreach initiatives, community events and workshops.

A tax-deductible donation to the Australian Museum Foundation will directly support these projects and others throughout 2017.

Please support us.
