Access Health and Community operate headspace Hawthorn which is the headspace centre for Inner East Melbourne, including the City of Manningham.

The special Manningham outreach program will increase headspace recognition and access for young persons in the City of Manningham.

The Facts: Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing

• One quarter of all young people experience a mental disorder in any 12 month period. 
• 75 per cent of mental health problems occur before the age of 25. 
• The most common groups of disorders experienced by young people are anxiety, depression and substance misuse. 
• Only 31 per cent of young women and 13 per cent of young men with mental health problems seek professional help. 
• Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young Australians aged 15-24.

What does headspace Hawthorn do to support young people?

headspace Hawthorn provides a range of mental health and wellbeing services to young people between the ages of 12 - 25 years. 

Our service encourages young people to seek help early by providing a free, confidential and youth friendly environment. Our services include GP's, sexual health clinic, alcohol and other drug counselling, education and employment support, housing support and a range of counselling services (including Psychology).

How will your donation support young people in our community?

100% of all donations will directly support community based health promotion and community awareness initiatives in the City of Manningham. Our goal is to increase the number of young people seeking help early, in the City of Manninham, by:

• Improving the mental health literacy of young people and their supports
• Raise awareness about headspace Hawthorn and its range of services
• Mobilise local young people to take action to reduce the stigma associated with mental health
