Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute Appeal 2020

The Ballaarat Mechanics' Institute (BMI) is one of Ballarat’s oldest cultural organisations. Established in 1859, the BMI has played, and continues to play, a leading role in shaping Ballarat’s history and cultural identity. We are grateful to have a loyal and active membership who support our library and heritage collections and share in a feeling of pride when attending the many social and cultural events that are held throughout the year, many of which we produce and present in-house.

Now, more than ever, the organisation needs financial stability which is critical to the organisation's current and future operation, including the upkeep and improvement of our Heritage listed building.
We are grateful to our members who support us each year, by renewing their membership and providing additional financial support in the form of donations that go directly to improving the Institutes's facilities and it's operation.

However, in a year of significantly reduced income, and increasing operating costs, we are looking to our community to help us secure the future of the BMI, and to support us financially through these tough times. The Arts and Culture Industry has been the hardest hit as a result of COVID-19, and this has seen the BMI lose a number of large events, major partnerships, and a downturn of regular hiring of the building. This has impacted our day-to-day operations, and we will continue to see the effect of this for the coming years.

Your donation will help to maintain and strengthen the service that we provide to our members and broader community. All donations are tax deductible and receipts will be issued immediately.
