National Aboriginal Solutions (Aboriginal Corporation)

Youth & Community Programs

National Aboriginal Solutions (Aboriginal Corporation) is a Public Benevolent Institution. We are a non-profit charitable organisation devoted to making a positive difference in the community for all Australians. Our aim is to develop and provide the highest quality programs, designed to link Aboriginal Youth & Communities with mainstream Australia for the  benefit all people in our regional, rural, isolated and remote communities.

Our organisation is registered under the Office of the Register of Indigenous Corporation (O.R.I.C) to act with Official Capacity, and was formed at the request of Senior Traditional Community Elders; both Women and Men from across Australia, supported and endorsed by Traditional (Lore) Law and Culture Council members.

We understand and have experienced the complexities of barriers faced by Indigenous Youth and Communities, and we are committed and dedicated to overcoming these barriers and achieving long term sustainable outcomes for all involved. Our key focus is addressing the mulitple barriers that exists.

Living and working in communities, our programmes have allowed us to develop mentoring capacity with-in these communities giving a significant understanding of the barriers preventing indigenous Australians from completing or participating in employment, education and training and social inclusion initatives has been gained. These barriers include:
  • Having no role models,
  • Low literacy and numeracy skills,
  • Drug and alcohol dependency,
  • Family members with alcohol or drug dependency,
  • Violence in the home,
  • Need to look after younger brothers and sisters,
  • Low self-esteem,
  • Lack of confidence,
  • Cultural perception of others,
  • No obvious career pathways or employment outcomes,
  • Lack of understanding by those involved in the programmes or    activities of cultural issues,
  • Lack of acknowledgement,
  • Transport and housing issues,
  • Ability to change behavioural conditions,
  • Lack of parental guidance (in the case of youth)
  • Financial hardship
  • Criminal offences / Emotional management issues
  • Division in family living situations
  • Community/peer pressures
In advocating programs designed to counter these barriers and with the assistance and advice from Traditional Elders, the Communities Youth and  the Community generally, we will contribute to people leading more positive and productive lives, particularly in the areas of; Culture Sharing and Understanding, Social Inclusion, Economic Sustainability, Environment Promotion and Preservation.

Some of our learning's which we have and will continue to utilise in future programmes, processes and any other work we do with Indigenous Australians include:
  • Working with existing networks and Indigenous organisations in the community
  • Involve existing networks and community people in the management or coordination of the programme or activity,
  • Always aim to involve the local Indigenous Australians in any programme or activity so that we are up-skilling them and providing them with the tools to conduct and be more involved in future activities,
  • Strong personal leadership development component combined with an in-depth understanding of themselves and others emotions, behaviours and learning styles to enhance relationships, communication and confidence,
  • Where working with youth inclusion of a parents evening/session near the beginning of any programme, to help parents understand the process their children will be going through and also where they can support them,
There are particular projects we are currently developing and implementing in unity across Australia. These initiatives are being designed and implemented with co-operation and support from Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Community members, Government and Private Sector organisations (NGO's).

Your kind support will bring us closer to our goal of  achieving these outcomes and generating higher levels of self-esteem and wellbeing for Community people.
