Crisis appeal

We all know our community is going through an especially difficult period right now. We can't visit our loved ones, we can't interact in the community like we normally would, we can't access products and services that we are used to. Year-round, the team at Townsville Hospital and Health Service do an outstanding job supporting patients, going above and beyond the call of duty, and they have really stepped up even more in the last few weeks. But sometimes we need some extra help to do more.

Right now, our team of social workers is gearing up to help patients who are admitted with nothing - no wallet, no handbag, no change of clothes or toiletries. Patients might be admitted for health care for any number of reasons, but the common factor is that they weren't expecting to be here. They might have received an injury, become suddenly unwell, been in accident. They might live nearby; they might have arrived via emergency helicopter. They might be your friend, your family, your neighbour. Yourself. It could be anyone, and it could be anytime. But right now, more than ever, we need to be prepared to help people experiencing trauma.

Please, give today to help vulnerable people in crisis.
