Thursday 25 November 2021 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and marks day one of the 16 Days of Activism.

Each year, from 25 November to 10 December, World Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism campaign calls for action against one of the world’s most persistent violations of human rights – violence against women.

During the 16 Days of Activism, people around the world will unite to raise awareness about gender-based violence, challenge discriminatory attitudes and call for improved laws and services to end violence against women for good.

Will you unite with us?

Biyani House is a shelter in Southwest Sydney that responds to women and families in crisis, and works with the community towards education and prevention of domestic and family violence. 1 in 4 Australian women (15 years and older) report having experienced sexual, physical, or emotional violence.

In collaboration with Women’s Community Shelters (WCS), an organisation dedicated to working with communities to establish new shelters, which provide short term emergency accommodation and support in a safe environment enables homeless women to rebuild self-esteem and achieve control and fulfilment of their lives, we offer accommodation that enables homeless women to rebuild self-esteem and achieve control and fulfilment of their lives.

During 2021’s 16 Days of Activism we are asking you to partner with us as we raise critical funding to help our local community.

Your help makes all the difference.

·       $1000 provides a basic phone, tablet, and internet access to ensure a woman could access housing and employment opportunities.

·       $700 supports a woman entirely for a week in the shelter.

·       $500 pays for course fees such as a Barista Certificate, or TAFE enrolment, facilitating a woman’s economic independence.

·       $300 enables a woman to have much needed dental treatment – dental health is a luxury that homeless women cannot afford.

·       $100 provides immediate crisis assistance to a woman in her first 24 hours in the shelter.

·       $50 provides one night’s accommodation for a woman or child in a safe and comfortable bed in one of our shelters.

 -     $20 provides phone and data credit allowing a woman to make important phone calls, applications and communicate online.
