The ongoing pandemic has presented us with a mental health crisis.

Lifeline is facing unprecedented demand for their free 24-hour counselling service (13 11 14).

More than 3,000 people die by suicide every year in Australia, and this year our communities will be especially challenged. In the last few months alone, a number of people close to me have been affected by suicide.

Why "30 for 30"?

Lifeline gets a call from someone in need every 30 seconds, so I want to raise $30,000. Your generosity will help Lifeline volunteers take every call possible!

Why this attempt?

With so few races on the horizon, I want to give the running community something to look forward to. 1000m is uncommon in the track world, but it's a distance that everyone understands. Next time you run or walk a kilometre, compare it to 2:37.80 (the Australian women's record set by Brittany McGowan) or 2:16.09 (the men's record set by Jeff Riseley).

When and where?

I'll make the Australian record attempt at Lakeside Stadium (Melbourne) in October, depending on lockdown restrictions.
