River's Gift

Uniting for Charlie - Great Ocean Road Running Festival 2019

Hi guys as most of you know Dave and I have worked with River's Gift for some time now and we were hoping that family or friends may be able to spare a few dollars for such an amazing cause before we run at Great Ocean Road this weekend!

We both feel proud to be able to do our bit to help River’s Gift in their pursuit of Stamping Out SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

River’s Gift was founded by Alex and Karl Waddell, whose world changed forever when they awoke on the morning of 7th November 2011 to discover that their 4 month old son, River Waddell, passed away in his sleep to what was determined to be a SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) event. River was a healthy and happy baby boy, with no symptoms of any illness. He was put to bed in his cot, on his back – he was slept safely as per the recommended guidelines, breastfed by his Mum who didn’t drink or smoke – yet still fell victim to this devastating condition. River was just 128 days old.

River’s Gift have come together with the Rutherford family in Ballarat, as part of the legacy program “Uniting for Charlie”. Uniting for Charlie honours Charlie Rutherford, who tragically lost her life at only 5 months of age, suddenly and unexpectedly in April 2015.

One of River’s Gift’s main objectives as an organisation is to raise funds specifically for research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). To date, in 7 years, River’s Gift has raised over $1.2 million and have become Australia’s leading funding body for SIDS research.
