In March 2018 I commenced a year of sobriety in a hope to bring awareness to some of the unhealthy relationships we develop with alcohol, in particular the vicious cycle that exists between alcohol misuse and mental health.

Alcohol has been linked to suicide, self-harm and psychosis. For some people, anxiety, depression and other mental health problems come first and they turn to alcohol to try to relieve it. For others, drinking comes first, and that turns into the root cause of their mental health problems.  Alcohol is commonly used to self-medicate for a wide range of things, but we consistently see that anxiety and depression are more common in heavy drinkers, and heavy drinking is more common in those with anxiety and depression.

I would be so grateful if you would support me by having one less drink on your next night out and instead donate the amount you would have paid to one of the amazing charities I have chosen to fundraise for.
