Psychology for a Safe Climate

HEART for climate action

Dear friends,

as many of you know, I am a founding member of ‘Psychology for a Safe Climate’. Since 2010, we have been working to increase understanding and engagement with climate change.

We have run workshops for climate activists , climate scientists, policy makers, and local council members in the areas of grief, burn out, and eco-anxiety. We give seminars, talks and have published two booklets about speaking about climate change. We have a website with many available resources. (psychologyforasafeclimate.org)

Now in 2020, the demand for PSC's work has outstripped the volunteer committee's ability to keep up! PSC needs to move toward hiring some paid staff so that they can continue to the offer the quality programs for activists and climate workers and to respond to the growing requests from psychologists and community members asking for additional support. PSC needs more funding to make that happen. So please support PSC's work by donating to my CrowdRaiser and signing up for the HEART for climate action 10 days of creative care. I appreciate every cent received toward this organisation I care so much about.

I will, of course, be participating in the ten-days of creative practices myself, and hope it will really be supportive for anyone who is looking to engage more deeply with their feelings about the climate crisis and to find that deeper motivation needed to take action. The ten days are filled with invitations for creative exploration as well as supportive self-care practices that will invite you into deeper connection with yourself, others and nature.

I am passionate about my work in PSC, and therefore I am hoping to help raise money towards the transition from a voluntary organisation to one that can employ administrative staff and other professional psychological health workers to continue and grow the work of our organisation.

Also, I would be very grateful for you to share the link to HEART for climate action with your friends and family. The more people who engage with climate change the better!

For me, the key to creating the deeper shift we need to see toward a life-sustaining culture and a genuine movement for climate justice requires deep personal work and reflection as well as concrete political action. I believe Psychology for a Safe Climate blends these two facets and it is exciting to work with like-minded people in an emotionally nourishing team.
