Dialysis Escape Line Australia

Dialysis Escape Line General Appeal

Dialysis Escape Line Australia was established in 1998 by Nancy Douglas-Irving and Enzo Scipioni - who have together experienced almost 20 years of dialysis. Their aim was to provide "getaways" for dialysis patients by setting up temporary dialysis units at resorts and other holiday destinations,

A 'Day Out from Dialysis' service is now also offered in SA, NSW and VIC. These services have proven to be very popular with renal patients across Australia - however our organisation currently receives no government funding and is wholly run by a team of dedicated volunteers. As such, we must rely on fundraising income and community support to provide these valued services.

How will the funds be used?

To cover costs of out temporary dialysis units such as medical equipment and a team of medical staff and to expand and enhance our services for members across Australia by employing staff to coordinate service provision.

Key Areas of Expenditure

Medical equipment (including dialysis machines and consumables for dialysis treatment)
Transport of medical equipment to getaway locations within Australia
Medical staff (a medical team including a Nephrologist, three renal-trained nurses and an equipment technician are provided for each getaway)
  • Service coordinators
