How We Make a Real Difference to Our Community
South Port Day Links (SPDL) has been providing a door to door community transport service to older people and people with a disability in the City of Port Phillip for the past 30 years through the DayLinks community transport service.
SPDL has been an innovator in supporting older people and people with a disability to remain independent, able to live at home, accessing the community through the DayLinks service.
Our community transport service is delivered because of the hard work of our volunteer drivers. Allowing residents to access medical appointments, visit their family, go shopping, attend social groups and remain connected to their community, reducing their personal sense of social isolation. Improving their physical health and sense of wellbeing.
The DayLinks service in 2017 provided over 12,500 trips to more than 350 active clients in the City of Port Phillip.
Why We Are Collecting Funds
While we gain limited government funds to deliver the service. We receive no funding to upgrade our vehicles. We operate because of the generous support of our volunteers and we seek donations from the community to maintain our fleet.
We have updated our fleet to the Honda Odyssey People Movers. These vehicles provide excellent access for our clients, allowing greater efficiency in permitting more people to be transported at one time, being easy and safe for our volunteer drivers to utilise.
With your support to keep our fleet up to date. This allows us to continue delivering our quality service to the community and make a real difference to people’s lives every day.
