Trees in Newcastle

TIN's mission is to protect, promote and enhance local native vegetation and support people with a passion for plants.

To fulfil our mission we plant, regenerate, conserve, maintain and protect local native plants across the Hunter region. We hold workshops and share educational resources to encourage others to take part.

Trees In Newcastle is a community organisation

Volunteers are the backbone of Trees In Newcastle, contributing amazing amounts of time, enthusiasm, and knowledge. As well as the huge contribution to the environment that is made, personal well being is nurtured through our inclusive social environment. Our volunteers are involved in:

  • Our Board.
  • Our Landcare team.
  • Projects and field days.

Volunteer and Student Engagement and Support

Trees In Newcastle provides on-ground opportunities supervised by qualified and experienced staff for our volunteers. These groups often include a mix of TAFE and University students , work-for-the-dole participants and corporate volunteers. All members of the public are welcome. Volunteer projects currently include:

  • Kalaroo Gate Remediation Project at Belmont Wetlands State Park.
  • Landcare project planning.
  • Strategic planning for Trees In Newcastle's future.

Bush Regeneration Services

With experience working across diverse ecological communities, our professional bush regeneration teams have built a strong reputation for working with sensitivity.  Trees In Newcastle employs integrated weed management strategies on our sites and our restoration techniques are based on the Bradley method. We recognise the importance of habitat, threatened species, endangered ecological communities, noxious weeds and erosion.
