Affirming Kids. Empowering Young People. Building Community.

Edmund Rice Camps NSW (ERCNSW) is a not-for-profit organisation that supports children and young people (aged 5-15) and their families experiencing significant and complex disadvantage. We provide a variety of group-based, recreational activities, including week-long and weekend camps and follow up day programs for participants who otherwise could not afford or access opportunities like this.

ERCNSW has a 1:1 ratio of children to volunteers. This high ratio enables us to provide intensive support and enrichment for all of our participants – each with their own abilities, needs and circumstances. Many of our participants come from different backgrounds; for example, they may be living in out-of-home care, have a disability and/or mental health issue, come from a very low-resource household, are living with a family member with a disability or mental health issue, are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, or are from a migrant, refugee or asylum seeker background.

In the short term, our programs are designed to build a sense of safety and connection through positive relationships and decreased social isolation. In the medium term, our programs support children to gain confidence and develop soft skills, for example; communication, teamwork and social skills. Ultimately, our programs aim to empower children and young people to make positive life choices, overcome their adversity and reach their individual potential, whatever that may be.

What you can do to help

As a very small not-for-profit, we work hard to keep the cost of camp as low as possible. Many of the families we support are experiencing financial distress so camp costs are generally covered by the referring agency. However, these particpant fees do not cover the real cost of camp - far from it. With your help, we can deliver more camps to more children in need. You can sponsor a child to come on a week-long camp or a Big outdoor Adventure Camp (BOAC), you could even sponsor the entire camp! Every dollar counts so any contribution will be greatly appreciated and put to good use.

  • $115 - give the gift of a Big Outdoor Adventure Camp to a young person.
  • $225 - Give the gift of a week-long camp to a child! Participant fees, the cost for referring agency or family.
  • $700 - Sponsor a Child! Cover the actual cost for a child to attend camp (inclduing the cost of volunteers who support them).
  • $2,100 - Sponsor a Big Outdoor Adventure Camp - a weekend adventure for 12-15 year olds.
  • $15,000 - Sponsor a week-long camp! Help ERCNSW create more opportunities for children in need.
  • Regular Donation - This is a great way to support a small not-for-profit to achieve greater sustainability and provide opportunities to kids and our amaxzing volunteers alike.
