Family violence is complex, deeply traumatic and often intergenerational. In Australia, one in four women experiences violence from an intimate partner, and one in three children are present during family violence incidents — often the hidden victims.
Without timely, trauma-informed care, the impacts of violence can continue well beyond crisis, affecting safety, wellbeing and long-term outcomes.
Emerge is a specialist family violence service working alongside women and children to find safety, heal and rebuild their lives.
For over 50 years, we have provided safe refuge, outreach, and evidence-based therapeutic care. We place children at the centre of our work, delivering early intervention that strengthens wellbeing, development and future outcomes.
How your donation helps
Without ongoing support, many women feel they have no choice but to return to unsafe environments. Your generosity enables wraparound, trauma-informed care that helps families stabilise and begin to heal.
Your support helps provide safe refuge, therapeutic care and early intervention that bridges the gap between crisis and recovery.
It also supports Back on Track, our innovative, evidence-based early intervention program for children aged 5 to 12 who have experienced family violence and are showing signs of aggressive or challenging behaviours. The program helps children process trauma, build resilience and develop healthy coping strategies, while strengthening their connection with caregivers and everyday life.
At Emerge, we recognise children as victim-survivors in their own right and place them at the centre of our work — supporting their recovery, wellbeing and future.
