The Murdoch Children's Research Institute is pleased to partner with CMT Australia's research objectives to better understand the benefits to children and adolescents of exercise, physical activity and nutrition.
Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT), a group of inherited peripheral nerve disorders causes degeneration of the nerves and progressive weakness and disability, often presenting from an early age. Disability in CMT is associated with reduced physical activity and body mass index (BMI). This leads to deconditioning which exacerbates weakness, affecting fitness, function and reduced quality of life. This project is inviting participation from younger individuals with CMT, their families and healthcare clinicians to better understand what they know about exercise, physical activity and nutrition.
The end objective is to facilitate greater uptake of exercise and physical activity and knowledge of nutrition as therapeutic tools in the management of disability in children and adolescents with CMT.
Whilst the project is dependent upon willing participants, it also has associated costs. CMT Australia has kicked off this project with seed funding of $10,000. This CrowdRaiser seeks to raise the balance of the project funding of $9,734 so we can deliver the outcomes as soon as possible.
We invite your support as either a participant or a financial partner. We would also be grateful if you to share the link to this CrowdRaiser page with your friends and family. The more people who can help the better!
