Why become a Screenworks Film Star?

We support you… and our creative community

Each year, we work tirelessly to attract production to the region, provide skills development opportunities for local screen practitioners, and host screenings and discussions with leading filmmakers for our community.

Help us reach our target of $6,000

Although we receive some funding from the NSW State Government and generate income through membership fees and event ticket sales, due to Federal funding changes Screenworks has now moved to a business model that also relies on donations. The money raised through this campaign will play a crucial role in helping us continue to develop our local screen industry.

You'll be in good company

By becoming a Screenworks Film Star, you will become an integral part of the fabric of the Northern Rivers Screen Industry and make a direct contribution to our ongoing success. We will wholeheartedly welcome you into our 'screen family' and keep you up-to-date about our growing screen industry, our stories and our local screen events.

Screenworks Film Stars are listed and acknowledged on our website, in event programs, in Screenworks' Annual Reports, and have the opportunity to attend special donor events during the year.

It's better than tax

All donations of $2 and above receive a tax-deductible receipt.

About us:

Northern Rivers Screenworks is the regional film, television and digital media office supporting the local screen industry, its practitioners and promoting screen culture.

We are a home-grown not-for-profit, membership based association managed by a board of 9 directors that voluntarily provide industry, management and screen industry knowledge and experience.

We are small - with only two part-time staff (our General Manager and Events & Membership Manager) - but we continue to punch above our weight (for over a decade now!).

We service a large region that covers an area of 20,895 km² and includes seven local government areas - Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed.

Many of Screenworks members are extremely active and well regarded in the film, television and multimedia industries. Members include producer and writer Deb Cox (Miss Fishers Murder Mysteries, East of Everything) and Jon Bell (The Gods of Wheat St, Redfern Now), writer director Belinda Chayko (Old School, Lou), documentary film maker David Bradbury (My Asian Heart, Frontline), IMAX film maker John Weiley (Antartica ,The Edge), children's series producer Cate McQuillen (dirtgirlworld), producer Robert Raymond of BlueSeas Films (Going Vertical), just to mention a few.
