Fitzroy Legal Service

Thousands of Victorians are unable to access the legal advice they desperately need. Without help, many people face court without legal representation, are unfairly treated by debt-collectors, lose their homes, or live in fear of a violent partner.

This is where the Fitzroy Legal Service steps in. As one of the oldest community legal centres in Australia we are able to offer our services and advice to people in need. Staffed by a core group of dedicated professionals and powered by the work of hundreds of passionate volunteers, we provide free general legal advice through our drop-in service five nights a week, as well as specialist clinics for Family Law, LGBTIQ rights and Animal Law.

We also publish The Law Handbook, a free resource available online. The Law Handbook has been accessed more than three million times by people seeking help with everyday legal problems, from parking fines to relationship breakdowns, to unfair landlords.

The Law Handbook is a well respected, reliable source of legal information and is used by legal professionals, universities and government organisations.

Our vision is for a just society, where the law is accessible to everyone.

However, as government funding is withdrawn and the number of disadvantaged people grows, that vision is under renewed attack.

We urgently need your help. We must continue our work in empowering those in our community who need us the most.

Your donation will help Fitzroy Legal Service stand up for the rights of everyone, especially the vulnerable, and send a powerful message to government that you believe in justice for all.
