Friends of Hospice Africa in Australia

2018/19 General Appeal

Imagine a world where however bad the pain, the strongest pain killer is just paracetamol.

When Hospice Africa started in Kampala, Uganda, in September 1993 this was the reality for Bashir, aged 8. Bashir had cancer and had just had his arm amputated. and was in dreadful pain. He was one the first to be helped through Hospice Africa Uganda so that his last days were spent pain free, at home, and with his family.

Today, almost 25 years on, Hospice Africa Uganda provides in-home palliative care services to almost 2000 patients every month. It costs approx. A$1.7m per year to provide this service and Hospice Africa Uganda relies 100% on donations, grants and charity shop revenue for income.

Hospice Africa Uganda is facing a significant shortfall in revenue for 2018, and Friends of Hospice Africa in Australia has been established to help rectify this situation.

Please consider a one off (or regular monthly) donation to help Hospice Africa Uganda provide critically needed palliative care services to those less fortunate than ourselves.

Friends of Hospice Africa in Australia is a registered charty with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission.

Hospice Africa Uganda is a registered Non-Governmental Organisation in Uganda.
