The Bega Women's Resource Centre (WRC) supports women of all ages in particular vulnerable or disadvantaged women, women escaping domestic and family violence, seniors, Aboriginal women and women from CALD backgrounds in the Bega Valley. The WRC runs a number of workshops that support women to develop their skills as well as their self-esteem. The WRC also provides access to food, clothing, phones, computers, laundry, kitchen and shower facilities to women as well as information, support and advocacy. At present the WRC is one of the few local services still providing regular open hours and face to face support so the workload has drastically increased. We've also experienced an increase in DV support needs. Unfortunately as our region has been hit hard by drought, bushfire and now massive COVID job losses donations have all but ceased. Due to limited government funding the WRC relies heavily on donations to stay open.
