COVID-19 has further heightened the stress and anxiety of families and healthcare teams of children and young people with cancer already severely immune compromised from the day they are diagnosed with the life threatening illness.

No sooner than the threat became apparent than we suspended our regular week day and week-end volunteer activities in the Children's Cancer Centres and cancelled our fundraising activities and events. We moved our office to the respective homes of our program director and her assistant and set up a distribution centre in our garage.

Because our main family hub, the Children's Cancer Centre at The Royal Children’s Hospital, closed completely to charities providing activities and resources, we reached out to families with children with cancer to register with us.  Subsequently we established a happy base and are now talking directly to families.  Our volunteers (and pro bono courier) have been distributing activities and resources directly to their homes and to those hospitals still open to receiving goods.

We are appealing for monetary donations to enable us to continue to provide these families and their healthcare teams with therapeutic resources and other items to provide happy moments, distractions and entertainment during and after the pandemic.
