HeartKids NSW are a not for profit organisation whose role is to support families of children born with heart disease. In Australia this is 1 in 100 children! HeartKids have in place Family Support Coordinators in our 2 major children's hospitals - Randwick and Westmead - and it is their role to be there for emotional and practical support before, during and after surgery. We offer networks of support outside the hospitals, right throughout the NSW region.
How will the funds be used?
In addition to our FSC programme (outlined above), HeartKids NSW supply desperately needed, cardiac-specific equipment to these two major hospitals and funds are needed to continue to do this as the hospitals wish lists are ever-growing. In addition, we need funds in order to develop awareness campaigns enabling us to secure further support from the public and government.
Key Areas of Expenditure
Family Support Programme; provision of in-hospital literature on childhoold heart disease; development of marketing campaigns to raise awareness of our cause and services.
