About this cause

Dr Stephen Hollings is part of the fabric of the Heart Research Institute (HRI). As both Chairman and CEO, his contribution to HRI has been significant.

As a leader, Stephen has been tireless in his commitment to supporting emerging researchers – understanding the invaluable contribution they make not just to the Institute’s current cardiovascular research, but also as young people at the coalface of innovation and transformation.

It is in recognition of this support that we are proud to launch The Stephen Hollings PhD Scholarship. Awarded for the first time in 2023, the PhD will support a meritorious student to undertake their doctoral studies at HRI, nurtured by the Institute’s outstanding research leadership.

The Fellowship will allow HRI to continue to invest in and enable Australia’s brightest emerging cardiovascular researchers to realise their potential and contribute to our mission to cure cardiovascular disease.

How you can help the future of cardiovascular research

To offer The Stephen Hollings Scholarship in 2023, HRI is seeking contributions to the Scholarship fund. At a cost of $105,000 over three years, 100 per cent of
gifts made to the fund will be directed to the Scholarship. Gifts to the Scholarship fund will provide an emerging research leader with the opportunity to focus on vital research in a stable and supportive environment.

Individual donations

You can make an individual gift to support the Scholarship, committing a nominated financial contribution each year over three years.

Giving circles

In collaboration with family members and colleagues, you can create a giving circle, contributing a donation each year for three years to support the Scholarship. For example, you and four colleagues may wish to contribute $2,000 a year each to fund a talented emerging researcher.

One-off donations

Single donations to the Scholarship fund can be made, with the Institute committing to raising the funds required to award the Scholarship in 2023.
