Arcadia College

Jye's Swim Run to help local youth.

When I was 9 years old I tragically lost my mother to brain cancer.

I had no idea how this would affect me as a young boy and later throughout my life. It was pretty tough at times and I often put on a brave face.

Luckily, I was surrounded with the support from close family and friends to help guide me through those dark times.  Sadly, not every young person has the support network to help them through grief and it often leads to isolation, depression and disengaging from school and community.

Fortunately, today there is a secondary school based at Varsity Lakes called Arcadia College which helps many teenagers through losing a loved one and other tragic circumstances. Arcadia College’s caring professionals empower young people by giving them the skills to cope with death whilst re-engaging them in back into education and your community.

On Australia Day 2018, I will be participating in the Slater + Garden Burleigh Swim Run in loving memory of my mum and raising money to build a new school at Robina to help more local young people.

Get behind our youth.
