KAGE 20th Anniversary

Kage Physical Theatre Other Causes...

WHY ARE WE COLLECTING FUNDS?

As part of our 20th Birthday celebrations, KAGE is seeking donors to support us to continue developing highly original contemporary dance-theatre. As a not-for-profit organisation our donors help us remain at the forefront of the development of dance, creating new works and captivating diverse audiences. As a special birthday bonus if we raise $20,000 by 19 May 2017, Creative Partnerships Australia will match your donation!

WHAT DO WE DO?

From two dance graduates, hungry to challenge the status quo and with a simple desire to create work which was entertaining, funny, challenging and irreverent, we are proud to have:

  • Created more than 20 new dance-theatre works (3 selected to be on the VCE playlist)
  • Toured to more than 80 venues
  • Employed over 226 diverse artists
  • Mentored 37 emerging performers
  • Been recognised with 45 awards

Our work has constantly evolved and has increasingly become more focused on addressing topical issues of social justice through live performance. We consider having positive and meaningful impact on individuals and communities one of our most significant achievements to date.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Without recurrent government funding, it will be our loyal supporters and donors who will provide us with the freedom to develop new work, the capacity to secure performance seasons and tours as well as opportunities to grow our education stream - presenting the world with cutting edge cultural experiences.

Our vision for the future is 20/20 and we are super excited about our 20th Anniversary program, which you can make possible, including:

  • The world premiere of Out Of Earshot in June collaborating with a deaf dancer and a renown jazz drummer
  • Continuing to tour Gerard's solo work Picnic to regional Victoria
  • Embarking on an international collaboration with Norwegian Sámi artists and Aboriginal artists entitled Caught In The Middle
  • Undertaking a creative residency at Kinosaki International Arts Center in Japan.
