Reason for Fund: Our people with a disability (Service Users) pay for the costs of their chosen community activity for themselves, but also pay the activity fees and expenses for their Support Person. For some Service Users (most on Disability Support Pensions and unemployed) this has meant they cannot attend a desired activity as the cost is too prohibitive. Others have not paid their activity bills and sadly can no longer attend those activities.

Objective: To establish and maintain an Activity Fund “Enable Activity” to cover activity fees/expenses for Support Persons, so the Service User can participate in that one-off or special community activity of their choice that would otherwise not be financially possible for them.

Funds would not be used to pay for Support Persons’ support hours.

Target: As we currently support 70 Service Users and numbers are increasing, we aim for a conservative ongoing Activity Fund targeting $5,000 per year. This will be distributed to relevant and deserving cases at the discretion of our Manager.

Benefits of “Enable Activity” for our Service Users:

• more community access and participation,
• enable attendance at activities and events that they otherwise would not be able to,
• have greater choice and control over their chosen activities,
• attend events that are outside their town/suburban limits, and
• enhance community activities.

• better able to accommodate Service Users’ choice and control,
• broaden the types of activities Service Users can access,
• enhance community wellbeing, and
• a unique bonus to help current and attract new Service Users.

What Your Support Means:

Any donation amount will be gratefully accepted and much appreciated. A donation of:

• $10 - $50  - for a special chosen activity;
• $50 - one-day dance or sport workshop, craft or cooking class;
• $150 - weekend cooking Masterclass, choir retreat, term of weekly art classes, or weekend ‘holiday’ to our adjacent Tablelands or beaches. 

Overall, $5000 raised will enable most of our Service Users to attend a special community activity of their choosing once a year.
