Parklands Albury-Wodonga

Building World Class Trails

Who is Parklands Albury Wodonga?

Parklands is a community managed not-for-profit organisation operating as a social enterprise.

Since 1997 we have been creating innovative ways to foster community involvement in the restoration, development and management of local tracks, trails and bush reserves.

How we work

We believe in "doing with" rather than "doing for".  Parklands have facilitated over 100 community - business - government partnerships to protect and enhance the natural and cultural heritage values of regional landscapes, and run programs involving more than 2,000 community members of all ages and stages of life, including Indigenous, disAbility and long term unemployed.

Facilitating linkages to make the impossible possible is our forte.

Together with the community we have built or upgraded and now maintain 187km of trails in the last 15 years, and manage over 3,000 hectares of bush reserves.

The Project

With the incredible uptake of cycling in all it's forms comes a fantastic opportunity to create something special in our region.

Our vision is of a world class cycle trail network around Albury Wodonga, incorporating river, rail and mountain trails.

The goal is to create International Mountain Bike Assocaition accredited trails, including 50km mountain bike trails, 30km river trails and 20km of upgraded rail trail.  this will mean large scale mountain bike facilities that offer something for every rider, built to international quality standards.

The Outcome: Community Investment

We are seeking $30,000 to realise this goal.

The potential benefits to the health of our community are matched by the potential economic benefits to the region as cyclists converge on these world class facilities.

As a social enterprise, Parklands will also add community capital by working with friends groups and disadvantaged people in our community to build the trail network.

Parklands is calling for investment in the project by community members and businesses.  We ask you to pass your values by investign in the future.

We can't do it without you!

As a community organization, we carry on our work by applying for project grants, tendering for environmental contracts, running park based events such as trail runs and rides, sponsorships, crowd funding campaigns, license fees, publications and community donations.

"The future is not some place we are going, but one we are creating.  the paths are not found, but made.  And the making of these pathways changes both the maker and the destination." (John Schaar)
