What we do?

Port Melbourne Life Saving Club (PMLSC) has been saving lives, at Port Melbourne beach, since 1913.

PMLSC has a vibrant history of developing the surf, swimming and leadership skills of many Victorian athletes. In addition to mentoring our youth, within the surf lifesaving movement, with their competitive surf development and community service activities.

Why are we collecting funds?

Port Melbourne LSC is a not for profit organisation, that patrols Port Melbourne beaches, since 1913. Our life saving club invests in developing leaders of the future, by teaching valuable lifesaving and surf skills to our community's youth members. Port Melbourne Life Saving Club's mission, is to provide leadership, professional Life Saving Services and inclusion for all members of the community.

The PMLSC Youth Leadership Program (YIP's), is dedicated to provide motivation for the clubs' youth members. The structured rewards based program, encourages participants to increase their involvement in a broad spectrum of surf club activities, whilst increasing member interaction. In accordance with the SLSA policy, our aim for our youth members, is to help create not just great lifesavers, but great Australians.

PMLSC recognises that positive education and leadership mentoring, is the greatest gift that we can provide our youth.

Why is the youth leadership development needed?

• To enable leadership mentoring and development, to positively guide and mentor our youth and create an enduring positive legacy.
• To provide an environment, where physical fitness, great health and sporting excellence is supported and celebrated.
• To enhance the opportunity to increase our youth's skills in leadership and personal development
• To improve the opportunity to increase our youths skills in surf sports participation, development and competition, in a fun and safe environment.
• To strengthen the opportunity to increase our youth's skills in ecosurf, lifesaving and community education.
• To better facilitate the structured nature of the holistic program, by providing our youth with; goals, empowering them with decision making skills and satisfying their needs for affiliation, by providing social activities, which they can participate in with people of similar interests.
• To support the club youth program to provide motivation, structured rewards and recognition for our youth members, to keep them involved in lifesaving, rather than become disinterested and engaged in other activities.

What the club youth leadership program will do to help?

The Port Melbourne Life Saving Club Youth Leadership Program is committed to;

• Raising funds to provide an expert surf sports coach, to provide skill acquisition, fitness conditioning and training programs, to the clubs youth.
• Supporting the Youth Team with their own uniforms, that recognises their involvement in the leadership program.
• Improving clubs youth's participation in surf sports development and competition, by providing new surf board equipment, for their exclusive usage.
• Encouraging our youth to become actively involved in all facets of the club, including; patrolling activities, fundraising, leadership, decision-making, social activities, awards, training and competition.
