LawRight

Emergency Justice Appeal

LawRight provide free legal services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in our communities - people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, people with mental illness, refugees, vulnerable young people and self-represented litigants. We help them resolve their legal problems and ensure equal access to justice for all Queenslanders.

How will the funds be used?

LawRight may be able to provide the help of a lawyer or barrister on a pro bono basis, however, legal action can still be prevented because the applicant is unable to pay for other costs associated with legal action. These can include filing fees, the cost of obtaining expert reports and travel expenses of witnesses. These out of pocket expenses, known as disbursements, can be very high and have the potential to stop an otherwise worthwhile case moving forward.

Donations to this appeal will be used to cover disbursements necessary to pursue legal action in pro bono cases. They are kept separate from our operating accounts and will not be used to fund office expenses.
