Refugee Advocacy Service Of South Australia Inc

Help RASSA keep them safe!

RASSA is the only community legal service in South Australia providing free migration assistance for fast-track visa applicants.

The Department of Immigration's new policy means that these people seeking asylum are now at risk of having their Centrelink and Medicare benefits withdrawn.

RASSA's Migration Assistance Project provides assistance to people seeking asylum in South Australia who are being assessed under the new 'fast track' assessment process.  We offer assistance with requests for further information and with applications to the Immigration Assessment Authority to review a fast track visa refusal.

RASSA receives no ongoing funding, and mostly relies upon volunteer migration agents and interpreters to assist our clients.  We are doing everything we can to ensure that our clients are not punished because they cannot afford to hire commercial migration agents, but we need your help!

How will your donation help people seeking asylum?

  • It will enable us to ensure that applicants who cannot afford to pay for professional advice still receive the advice they need
  • It will enable us to hire skilled interpreters to allow our clients to properly explain why they deserve Australia's protection, and why they would be at risk of harm if they were returned to their home countries

RASSA gratefully acknowledges the support of the Department of Community Services and Social Inclusion, which has contributed funds to this project through Community Benefit SA.  We also acknowledge the support of the Law Foundation of South Australia, the Broadley Trust, Flinders University of South Australia, the Australian Refugee Association and Life Without Barriers.
