SAFety Net

SAF offers therapeutic foster care for children and young people aged 0 to 17 who are not able to live with their biological families due to child protection concerns. We have been working with vulnerable young people in the Inner West of Sydney since 1977. SAF strive for an Australia where all children and young are respected and feel they belong.

Beyond providing safe homes to over 60 children and young people through foster care, SAF keeps the door open to young people after they officially leave care because we believe that 18- 25-year-olds still need guidance, direction, emotional and financial support to continue becoming successful independent adults.

SAF is not funded for these aftercare services and we rely on community support to continue to offer case work, brokerage and crisis interventions for these vulnerable emerging adults. We provide a nurturing safety net and engage them in their community with a focus on improving their resilience and independence towards skill development, education and employment.

How will the funds be used?

SAF continues to support our young people in every way we can, but we desperately need financial support from community-minded individuals and businesses to continue with this service delivery. All donations over $2 are fully tax deductible.

To give you an idea on how your donation could help:

$50 provides an hour of intensive therapeutic casework (which includes assessments, onward referrals etc.)
$70 provides a young person with a range of health products with a 'self-care pack'
$1250 provides 25 hours of intensive therapeutic casework which could be used to support several young people
$10,000 provides a position for an allocated aftercare caseworker for 2 days a week for a quarter year.
