Support Act: the heart and hand of Australian music
Support Act is a charity, unique in Australia, helping music professionals who are facing hardship due to illness, injury or some other crisis that impacts on their ability to work in music.
We help singers, songwriters, composers, musicians, roadies, techies, managers, staffers and others. We know that a career in music can be uncertain and risky, and that a life crisis can quickly lead to financial hardship.
If you are a music professional, Support Act is here to help. Because your life is music.
How we can help you
Support Act can help you if you have worked professionally in the music industry (or a music related business) and are facing hardship due to illness, injury or some other crisis that impacts on your ability to work.
You can trust us
We are completely non-judgemental about your circumstances and all applications are treated confidentially.
We can help in several ways
We help by providing different kinds of support, which may include financial relief, advice and practical assistance.
Where we can't help
We can't help simply because someone is out of work. Whilst we understand that obtaining work can be an ongoing challenge for many people working in music, our aim is to help people who are facing hardship due to illness, injury or some other crisis that impacts on their ability to work.
How you can help Support Act
Support Act receives no government funding and must fundraise every dollar to continue its work. With so few safety nets available to people working in music, demand for our help is rising dramatically and has increased by 500% in the last year. We can help in lots of ways: we pay the rent, stop the gas from being cut off, fund medical treatment, put fuel in the tank and finance the repair of instruments. Our aim is to support music professionals during tough times and help people get back to work wherever possible. Please support our work with a donation.
