United Way South Australia

Read Aloud Open Day @ Parafield Airport

United Way SA supports families living in the most disadvantaged areas across metropolitan Adelaide with a focus on supporting early literacy skills by providing resources and opportunities for family reading activities.

Children’s Week is celebrated annually in October and this year United Way has partnered with Parafield Airport to undertake an event that is based around the theme of A Caring World Shares. This event is designed to encourage Read Aloud activities by inspiring, involving, and showcasing the fun that can be enjoyed in such spaces and will be based around the stories: “Touch the Earth” by Julian Lennon, “Harrison’s Song” by Harrison Craig and “My Super Hero” by Chris Owen.

The event essentially enables families to explore the aviation and services exhibits, participate in the Read Aloud sessions, and enjoy craft activities, animal displays, show rides, food components, and giveaways. United way SA currently have 450 families registered in the United We Read program. Please help support one of the families to attend for free entry, rides and activities.
