We are collecting funds to build community.

Having volunteers support people with a disability provides greater capacity and likelihood of developing a community where people are accepted and included. We urgently need to recruit and train 15 new volunteers to support our most isolated families across Melbourne. Help us make a significant positive impact of children and families by building opportunities for friendship after all a life lived with friendship is a life fully lived.

What do we do

For nearly 40 years Extended Families has been supporting children and young people with a disability to feel valued, develop their full potential and participate fully in our community. We have also helped their families to be strong, resilient and connected. We have done this through building positive connections for the children and their families with supportive volunteers and their community.

Your support will enable us to find an additional 15 volunteers in the next six months who can make a real difference in people's lives. We will

- Run a new volunteer recruitment campaign across Melbourne

- Train and accredit new volunteers

- Match volunteers to children with a disability to help them gain skills, confidence and be a real part of their community

What can you do

It costs about $2,000 to train, assess and match a volunteer to a child with a disability. We are committed to a process that keeps children safe and ensures the best match with their volunteer. This takes skills and time. Help us reach our target of $30,000 to engage 15 new volunteers by the end of 2017.

$20 will pay for a volunteer to access our E-Learning material

$50 will pay for the face to face training session for one volunteer

$100 will pay for our staff to spend 2 hours getting to know a new child and family

$150 will pay for the matching visit to introduce a volunteer to a child and family
