For more than 45 years, The Venny has provided something every child deserves: a safe place to belong. Whether it be at our physical sites in Kensington and Fitzroy or our pop-up Venny To You program. We’re here for all children, including those that need it the most.
At The Venny, play changes lives ...
Every day, children arrive at The Venny carrying challenges that no child should have to navigate alone — social isolation, family stress, racism, poverty, trauma, violence, housing insecurity and disengagement from school.
At The Venny, they find something different ...
They find trusted adults who know their names. They find safe spaces to play, create, explore and take healthy risks. They find consistency, belonging and relationships that help them feel seen, valued and capable.
And through play, children begin to thrive ...
Children develop emotional regulation, confidence, problem-solving skills and resilience through self-directed play, nature-based activities, sensory experiences and adventurous “risky play”. These are the very capabilities that support positive mental health, stronger relationships and lifelong wellbeing.
Research consistently shows that early, relational support prevents more serious social, emotional and behavioural issues from emerging later in life. By engaging children early and consistently, The Venny helps reduce marginalisation and disengagement while strengthening the protective factors every child needs to flourish.
This work changes lives — and it also reduces long-term pressure on health, justice and crisis systems.
Yet demand for The Venny’s programs continues to grow ...
Rising cost-of-living pressures and increasing family vulnerability are placing more children at risk of falling through the gaps. At the same time, community-based early intervention services such as The Venny remain critically underfunded, forcing systems to respond to crises after harm has already occurred.
The Venny offers prevention, connection and community ...
But this work cannot continue without support. Your donation will help keep The Venny’s programs free and accessible for children who need them most. It will help provide safe play spaces, meals, mentoring, outreach programs and trusted relationships that support children to feel secure, connected and hopeful about their future.
Your support tells children that they matter.
