During a severe weather event in the early morning of Saturday 21st January 2023, our 30 metre Transmission Tower on Scenic Hill, Remembrance Drive, buckled and fell in the windstorm. This cut our broadcasting completely and with technical help, we were able to resume on air broadcasting after 48 hours although at a much lower capacity and output which unfortunately means extremely intermittent reception for our listeners. Our steep reduction in broadcast capacity due to this emergency weather incident has affected our transmission and being felt across our community. Our sponsorship capacity has also been greatly affected and assistance with this goal to resume our regular strength in broadcasting to a 100km radius of Griffith is greatly appreciated.
Griffith Community FM Association Incorporated, is run solely by volunteers and we host a diversity of weekly programming and offer an inclusive and safe space for people to contribute their time to benefit the community and to also help themselves and others feel connected. We have a strong local connection in our community and we draw on this via our 40+ programs each week being aired by our 40+ volunteers behind the microphones and behind the scenes. We have a broad community network and we have five non-English speaking programs that have a strong following by the Italian, Fijian, Samoan and Punjabi communities.
