In 2012, 300 Blankets began with a simple mission: to provide warmth and support to people experiencing homelessness.
Marking 10 years of Outreach in 2025, this mission continues - and this winter, we’re asking for your help to make our program offering even better.
Through our Winter Warmth Appeal, we're raising funds to provide real, practical support to those doing it tough - including warm clothing, blankets, hygiene essentials, hot meals, and the ongoing care delivered by our Outreach teams.
At the 2021 Census, over 30,000 people in Victoria were recorded as experiencing homelessness, with around 1,000 sleeping rough on any given night. As cost-of-living pressures grow, so too does the need for compassionate, consistent care.
Your donation will help us reach more people, more often - offering not just warmth, but dignity, connection, and hope.
About Outreach
Since July 2015, 300 Blankets has operated the Outreach Program, where at least twice a week year-round, a group led by one of our dedicated Outreach Leaders directly engages with people sleeping rough in Melbourne’s CBD. 300 Blankets recognised early on that consistency and reliability of our presence out on the streets is essential to developing relationships and trust with people. The Outreach Program works to provide people experiencing homelessness with friendship and support in a time when they are generally in greatest need of social and material assistance. This effort is in recognition of the fact that social isolation and a sense of disenfranchisement can proliferate among people on the streets.
Every Outreach evening, the team carry a variety of emergency material aid such as blankets, toiletries and basic food. These items make an extraordinary impact on the lives of people sleeping rough. Doing more than just providing emergency materials to those we meet, this program allows us to establish supportive relationships, give advice and provide referrals to enhance the likelihood that further supports may help them move off the streets.
About 300 Blankets
300 Blankets is dedicated to supporting people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness in Victoria. We do this through the provision of consistent programs - Outreach and Soul Kitchen. Through these we ensure that all people we connect with are treated with dignity and compassion, while also looking to apply early-stage intervention for people on the path to homelessness.
