Beyond DV Ltd was established after my own daughter's DV situation in 2017.

We launched the charity in January 2018 and are currently supporting a number of families through our Bright Start program.

This program utilises the skills & expertise of teachers to support families before, during and after the enrolment process when a child needs to relocate schools after fleeing domestic and family violence.

The process is

·        meet with the family to ascertain the specific needs of each child

·        assist the mother with the choice of school

·        make an appointment for an enrolment meeting at the school

·        attend with the mother to provide advocacy and assist understanding of the process

·        organise the purchase of book supplies and uniforms

·        accompany the family to school on the first day to provide emotional/practical support

·        maintain contact with the school and family as required.

The teachers involved with the program currently work part-time for the Education Department and work with these families on their days off.

At present, families are referred directly to us through Brisbane Domestic Violence Service. After Easter, we will commence working directly with DV refuges across Brisbane.

We work very closely with the Education Department to place each student in the most supportive education environment possible.

We seek ongoing donations to purchase school book supplies and uniforms for each child who is relocating to a new school. The approximate cost is $300 per child.
