About this cause

ActNow Theatre Placemakers are a driving force behind the creation and sustainability of a new home for ActNow Theatre: a Stomping Ground for historically marginalised artists and their communities underpinned by accessibility, safety, creativity and self determination.

At the start of Spring, and after a long search for just the right place, we got the keys for our new home at 144 Tynte Street, North Adelaide.

Our new home will provide welcoming first experiences in the performing arts through programs like our Community Workshops; exceptional opportunities for professional development and learning through programs like Cultural Leaders; rehearsal and development of our own exceptional socially conscious performance projects like Josh and Sophia Don’t Play Together Anymore; and support for independent creative projects from historically marginalised artists and producers through our Residency and Meet With Us programs.

Right now, our new home is a blank slate that we are excited to fill with community, creativity and colour, but there’s lots of work to be done!

By committing to $50 a month you can join the ActNow Theatre Placemakers and be part of the driving force behind a brand new Stomping Ground for historically marginalised artists and their communities.

  • Your donation will support:
  • staffing to enable maximum community use of our spaces
  • the commissioning of an accessibility audit, and a plan for adaptations to venue infrastructure and amenities
  • technical equipment maintenance and repair
  • subsidised venue costs for independent artists from marginalised communities to develop and rehearse their work
  • hospitality and catering for marginalised artists and communities using our spaces
  • sustainable furnishings, fittings and systems to reduce our carbon footprint
  • venue costs associated with the development of exceptional new social justice theatre works developed by, with and for First Nations, Global Majority, LGBTQIASB+, Disabled and Neurodiverse People.
