Last year Adelaide Mbale reached more than 2,500 men and women across 28 communities in remote Uganda through our health promotion outreach work. The topics of focus included how to prevent malaria, diarrhoea, pneumonia and family planning. Messages are delivered by our local health workers and include how to recognise early signs and symptoms of common childhood diseases for timely treatment.
338 patients were treated at our community clinic, and 12 children were supported to reach life-saving medical treatment.
Our Program Manager completed her Diploma in Project Management and our team of 7 health workers enjoyed training on pneumonia and how to facilitate a good health session in community. We also distributed bags of flour across 20 target villages due to poor growing conditions caused by drought, heavy rains and mudslides.
In addition to our ongoing community work, this year we are also wanting to;
- invest in ongoing mentoring and training for our health workforce,
- expand to a larger community clinic that can accommodate more patients
- provide support for our health workforce to come together for regular reflection and planning meetings.
Please join us on our ongoing journey to improve health outcomes for children and their families in remote Uganda.
