Each composer, an AdYO alumni comes full circle, as they take this opportunity to write music for their first orchestra. And in turn, each orchestra will spend time rehearsing with their composer before the premieres of these new fanfares.
The Gala Concert marks the culmination of a great year of music-making for our 220 young musicians, as they take to the stage on Sunday 18 November at 3pm. Our Adelaide Youth Strings, Adelaide Youth Sinfonia, Adelaide Youth Wind Orchestra and our senior orchestra, the Adelaide Youth Orchestra, will be proud to perform these new fanfares written for them by graduates of their orchestras.
Opportunities to write music destined for a quality performance in a high profile public venue are few and far between for young composers in Australia. We are committed to making this happen in 2018.
Your donation will go directly towards the commissioning and performance of these newly composed fanfares at our Gala Concert, Adelaide Town Hall on 18 November.
Our renewed focus this year on our alumni will give a number of talented young musicians exceptional opportunities to reconnect with our youth orchestras. Not only will they be able to perform and conduct but through this special project they will be able to compose. We know that our orchestras create exciting concerts that bring inspiration to audiences and participants alike. We are constantly seeking to generate alternative pathways in music and develop enriching experiences for everyone involved. We hope you can join us for this very exciting initiative.
This will be the first of many such projects for AdYO musicians and alumni as they illuminate the present and ignite the future
