Dogs in all shapes and sizes, big or small, Animal Rescue QLD fighting the fight, to try and save them all! Animal Rescue Qld (ARQ) is a non-profit registered charity that is purely run by a team of dedicated, hardworking animal loving volunteers, who are committed to contributing in a team effort to try and save as many lives as we can.

From the beginning… The floods of January 2011 hit people of the SEQ region extremely hard. Not only did people have to rebuild their entire lives from scratch and make urgent temporary living arrangements, many had also lost their loved animals or had to give them up. This resulted in an overwhelming amount ending up in council pounds, as there was simply no where else for them to go.

ARQ was founded not long after to help assist the Brisbane City Council with a team of foster carer's to aid in looking after these dogs, giving their owners an extended chance to be reunited with them or to provide them with a second chance to find their forever home, instead of being Put To Sleep (PTS).

During this grueling time, it was soon realised that the continuing number of dogs finding themselves in the same situation, ending up in our local pounds day after day. With little or no time left to be re-homed, their clock ticking quickly away and most never given the chance to see another day. This is where ARQ took the stance to step in, offering to try and save these beautiful dogs by finding them a foster carer until their forever home was found.

All of our dogs in foster care are homed with a life changing foster carer and are raised as a part of their family until their forever home comes along. Foster carers not only provide basic training and socialisation for our beautiful dogs, which helps make them more adoptable, but they also give our dogs a warm place to sleep at night and food in their tummies, so they are to never go hungry again. Most importantly they also remove the stress of being in a pound environment.

ARQ is a 100% no-kill rescue organisation and we continue to provide care for our dogs until such time and they are deemed adoptable. We have helped to find over 800 dogs their forever home, in the 2 and ½ short years we have been running. We currently have over 200 dogs in foster care all over SEQ, waiting patiently for such time to come, with additional dogs incoming every week from various pounds or private surrenders.

Without the continual support from the community and our wonderful foster carers we would never be able to do what we do. This comes down to us needing you!
